Connect Google Search Console

Search Console reveals which keywords drive organic traffic to each page on your store. Wren uses this data to correlate search intent with revenue — so you can see which keywords actually lead to purchases, not just clicks.

What you’ll need

• An existing Search Console property for your domain
• The same Google Cloud service account you used for GA4
• About 3 minutes

Don’t have Search Console yet?

1. Go to search.google.com/search-console
2. Click Add property
3. Choose Domain (recommended — covers www/non-www and all subdomains)
4. Enter your root domain (e.g. yourstore.com)
5. Verify ownership via DNS (Search Console walks you through this — typically adding a TXT record to your domain’s DNS)
6. Wait for Google to verify (usually minutes, sometimes hours)

Step 1: Enable the Search Console API

1. Go to console.cloud.google.com
2. Make sure you’re in the same project as your GA4 service account
3. Navigate to APIs & Services › Library
4. Search for “Google Search Console API”
5. Click Enable

Step 2: Grant service account access to your property

1. Go to search.google.com/search-console
2. Select your property
3. Click Settings (bottom of the left nav)
4. Click Users and permissions
5. Click Add user
6. Paste your service account email (the client_email from your GA4 JSON, like wren-analytics@your-project.iam.gserviceaccount.com)
7. Set permission to Full
8. Click Add

Step 3: Add the Site URL to Wren

In Wren, go to Settings › Store Connections › Google Search Console.

The format depends on how your Search Console property is registered:

• Domain property: use sc-domain:yourstore.com (no https, just the prefix and bare domain)
• URL property: use the full URL exactly as registered, including trailing slash (e.g. https://yourstore.com/)

If you see a 403 error on next sync, the site URL format is likely wrong — try sc-domain:yourdomain.com for domain properties.

Step 4: Wait for the next sync

Search Console data is sync’d nightly. First run pulls the last 28 days with a 3-day lag (that’s how Search Console publishes data — it’s never real-time).
